Topshop Sale Goodies

Without question Topshop is one of my favourite stores to shop at and its sales is something I look forward to. Most of the time I will be one of those eager beavers who are waiting in line for its sales to start at a ridiculous time in the morning. So much so that it has become some sort of a Christmas tradition to hit the Topshop sale on Christmas Eve. But this year Lucy and I were quite disappointed with its winter sale and prices.

Usually there is a couple of pieces I avoid buying during December and I'll wait in anticipation for them to be marked down when the 24th arrives. But this year there was not much that caught my eye and there weren't many bargains that I could find. I didn't get that feeling of joy and smugness knowing that I had saved £££ on a dress I had lusted after for the past month.

Nevertheless, I managed to find a few bargains and Christmas necessities that would see me into the new year.

Here are a few that I picked out...

Leopard print cardi from Topshop's Boutique range, £25

Zebra motif jumper, £20

Green tweed dress, £40

Bristol Bound

We have definitely been getting into the festive spirit this weekend. Lucy and I went to Bristol with our friend to finish our Christmas shopping. The town was lined with Christmas markets and lights and full of the season's cheer. We toasted the day with a few drinks and a dance back in Cardiff. Here are some snaps we took from the day.

Topshop Wishes Customers a Merry Christmas in Winter Wonderland Campaign

Not only have we found out that Kate Bosworth can sing (who knew?) but the high street favourite has proven itself as a mogul in internet marketing.

The 'Who's That Girl' campaign involves Topshop wishing their customers a Merry Christmas with a two minute video of Kate Bosworth singing Winter Wonderland. The Christmas campaign has had fans and followers from around the globe glued to its social media pages for the past week, wondering who the girl behind the campaign was. Topshop gave out a string of clues to keep everyone guessing who it might be, including shots from the video set, hair and makeup, whilst secretly promoting Topshop items.

The clever, little marketing campaign has spanned a media frenzy in the digital/fashion world. It has since gone viral and has had everyone from celebs to fashionistas engaged in its social media and talking about the face behind the campaign online. It really does prove the power of social media and how one simple concept can be so compelling. Not only have they driven traffic to their social media pages, Topshop are now trying to bag Kate and itself a Christmas number 1 as it tweets Radio 1 DJs asking them to get behind the single.

This is not the first time Topshop has used social media to connect to their consumers. Its 'Trick or Treat' Halloween campaign involved its followers either tweeting a picture of their Halloween outfit or offering Halloween style tip, using the hashtag #trickortreat. The best tweet then was able to purchase items in exchange for a tweet. The aim behind it was to drive conversation within its community, which it certainly accomplished. We expect to see more campaigns like this from Topshop in 2013 and for many other big brands to follow in their 'Tweet-steps'.

Damien Hirst and The Olsen's Extraordinary Collaboration.

The inspiring Artist Damien Hirst has designed a collection of rebellious backpacks for the most famous and branded twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. 'The Row' designed and owned by the Olsen twins, is renowed for its most classic yet contemporary pieces that only the most creative and rich individuals can afford. Their unique approach on this artistic collaboration is an ispiration to the fashion and culture industry.

Lusting over The Row's most stylish black patent and Nile Crocodile leather backpacks, Damien Hurst has glued his signature spots and weird prescription pills all over these backpacks.

At a gobsmacking price of £24K, we could never think of using these fascinating bags as an every day fashion accessory!! ... God Bless the Olsen Twins ...

Winter Warmers

This week we have definitely felt the cold, winter temperatures and Jack Frost has made an appearance once or twice this week for sure. Not only has the temperatures dropped but everywhere is starting to feel a lot like Christmas and getting into the Christmas spirit too. Along with the festiveness, one of the best things about this time of year is wrapping up warm in chunky knits, fur trimmings and wearing our favourite bobble hats!

The countdown to Christmas begins :)

Sienna Swinging Sixties

I absolutely adore these images taken from the January 2013 Harper Bazaar issue.
Photographed by David Slijper and styled by Leith Clark, Sienna Miller is entering the new year with a new signature - 1960s vibe. Wearing bold designs by Stella McCartney and Chloe, Sienna looks feminine yet contemporary and she is definitely one stylish and successful actress.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

As a Visual Merchandiser, my role is to ensure all store windows are dressed accordingly to the company's guidelines. Getting into the festive spirit, here is my first attempt of creating a Christmas window for the Edinburgh Woollen Mill Group store on Cardiff St David's High Street...

"Simple is the new black"

This lousy weather is getting us quite down at the moment. But there's nothing that a bit of retail therapy and a Starbucks couldn't do to wipe that dreary mood away! Here's what we bought...

Double Take: Primark Vs Topshop

The other week I saw these polka dot trousers in Primark left on the sale rack for just £7. It was hard not to walk away from them at that price.

Then I walked into Topshop to find nearly the exactly the same pair for £38. Yes I could have bought five pairs! I casually walked away with a secret smug and my bargain in hand...
Primark polka dot trousers £7
Topshop Flock Spot Cigarette Trousers £38
